LAKELAND – Tenoroc High School’s head football coach was arrested late Friday night on drug possession charges, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Laroni Gallishaw, 37, is being charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, introducing contraband into a jail and tampering with evidence.

Gallishaw, a former NFL defensive back, was stopped in his blue Dodge Charger about 11:40 p.m. at a Chevron gas station at the intersection of Memorial Boulevard and Chestnut Road for driving with an expired tag, deputies said.

As deputies approached the car, Gallishaw appeared to be trying to hide something in the center console and gave the Sheriff’s Office permission to search the vehicle.

Deputies found a razor blade and small amount of cocaine in the cup holder.
