Branislav Jakovljević is Professor and Chair at the Department of Theater and Performance Studies at Stanford University. His research focuses on Avant-garde and Experimental Theater as well as on Performance Theory, Performance and Politics, and Performance and Law.

After receiving a BA in Dramaturgy from the School of Theater, Film, Radio and Television at Belgrade University (1991), Jakovljević completed both his MA (1997) and PhD (2002) at the Department of Performance Studies at New York University.

Before joining the Department of Drama/Theater and Performance Studies at Stanford in 2006 (first as Assistant Professor, then as Associate Professor), he taught at the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Minnesota (2003-2006) and at the Department of Drama at Tisch School of the Arts, New York (1998-2002).
